NBA TV will debut “The Doctor” tonight at 9pm.

The Phillies returned to their losing ways over the weekend as they followed up a solid five game winning streak with a three game skid. The Eagles have wrapped up OTA’s and minicamp and will reconvene in late July for Training Camp. In the meantime, the team has unveiled some new renovation plans for Lincoln Financial Field that carry quite a hefty price tag. All signs are pointing to the 2013-2014 season being the final year for Flyer’s defenseman Kimmo Timonen. Two names have surfaced in connection to the Sixers head coaching search. Also, an all-time Sixers legend will be the subject of a brand new NBA TV documentary to debut this evening.

Phillies:

Last Thursday, the Phils took down the Brewers 5-1. The victory marked the first time the team was above .500 (31-30) since April 14. The win was also the end of a five game winning streak for the ball club. The Phillies lost three straight games to the Brewers over the weekend (5-4, 4-3, 9-1). The losing streak now has the Phillies standing at 31-33 with an off day today and a three game set to begin tomorrow in Minnesota (27-33). Cole Hamels (2-9), Tyler Cloyd (2-2) and Cliff Lee (7-2) are the probable starters for the series. Domonic Brown had one homerun, three rbi’s and three hits during the weekend series.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced a $125 million renovation plan for Lincoln Financial Field. The team also released images of what the renovations will include. The upgrades include new video boards, a new expanded gift shop, 1,600 additional seats, new murals depicting former players, free Wifi and bridges made to connect all the sections of the upper deck. Eagles owner Jeff Lurie would not confirm that the upgrades were to bring a Super Bowl to Philadelphia, but that is something that Lurie has expressed interest in doing.

Flyers:

All signs point to this being Kimmo Timonen’s final season in orange and black and perhaps his final in professional hockey. Timonen, 38, signed a one-year extension with the club for $6 million and it looks like that will be his last deal. Timonen mentioned in an interview that he is not 100% set on retiring after the 2013-2014 season but he understands that he should enjoy it while he still can. Timonen has dealt with multiple injuries in recent seasons. Timonen’s impending departure makes acquiring defensemen a top priority for the Flyers this offseason.

Sixers:

Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale has emerged as a candidate for the Sixers head coaching position.

Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale has emerged as a candidate for the Sixers head coaching position.

Two assistant coaches have been linked to the Sixers coaching search. David Fizdale of the Miami Heat and Melvin Hunt of the Denver Nuggets are both said to be on Sam Hinkie’s radar. The Sixers appear to be taking their time as they seek Doug Collins’ replacement. The team started their coaching search over from scratch after they parted ways with GM Tony Dileo. Both coaches are young and can grow with the franchise, something that seems to be a desire of Hinkie’s.

Be sure to tune into NBA TV tonight at 9pm for the debut of the new documentary, ‘The Doctor’, which chronicles the life and career of Sixers legend, Julius Erving. NBA TV has had ads running throughout the Finals and Erving himself has made a number of stops and appearances promoting the film which he said he believes will dazzle the fans with highlights and answer the questions about his life that people have always wanted to know.
